Living Space:
Belgian Laekenois are highly energetic and thrive in environments where they have plenty of space to move around. Ideally, they need a house with a yard. They can adapt to apartment living if given adequate exercise, but they generally prefer larger spaces to accommodate their energy levels.
Exercise:
They require daily vigorous exercise such as long walks, runs, and play sessions. Access to a secure outdoor area where they can roam and play freely is recommended to keep them mentally and physically stimulated.
Climate:
Belgian Laekenois adapt well to different climates but need protection against extreme temperatures. Their weather-resistant coat provides some insulation against cold, but during heatwaves, they should be sheltered adequately.
Grooming:
They have a rough, wiry coat requiring regular grooming. Routine brushing helps to maintain the coat texture and minimize shedding. Occasional professional grooming might also be necessary to keep them looking their best.
Independence:
Being intelligent and sometimes independent in nature, Belgian Laekenois can manage being alone for a few hours. However, they are social animals and prefer being in the company of their families.
